Charcoal Deep Pore Cleanser From Biore

IMG_0698

Charcoal-based cleansers have been getting a lot of press recently, so I was on the hunt to try one. Why charcoal? Charcoal has long been known to remove impurities and detoxify. New skin care products have been popping up everywhere containing this new “magic” ingredient. At the time I bought this, Biore was the only brand I could find that contained charcoal. Since stress has given me mass breakouts lately, I hoped it would help to clear up my skin.

This cleanser claims to “deep clean 2 times better than a basic cleanser and purify skin naturally”. It does pump out a smoky grey with bits of black charcoal powder mixed into a glycerin base, but no worries as it will lather white, and rinse off well, without a filmy feel.  It has a fresh, clean, almost bordering on an aftershave-like scent, and tingled slightly without burn.

Later, I read more about the differences between charcoal powder and “activated” charcoal. Activated charcoal-based products are key to purifying the skin, not charcoal powder itself, which is what this one has. So this product was misleading in that it is more of a generic cleanser, not a “deep” cleanser as promised. It did not make my skin any worse, but  it definitely did not help my skin anymore so than a regular facial cleanser would. If you really want to deep clean your face, grab one that contains activated charcoal instead.  6.77 oz.

Interesting Gel Liner Tidbit

I got a gel liner from Nyx, which came with a box explaining it’s usage, and something I never thought about before: storing the gel liners ***upside down*** in a dark, dry drawer. I’ve always thrown them in my drawer right side up, which may have contributed to them drying up and cracking earlier than expected. Maybe the moisturizing ingredients settle into the bottom of the jar? After  reading that, I turned my gel liners upside down. Time will tell if they last a bit longer than expected.

E.L.F. Long-Lasting Lustrous Eye Shadow In “Soiree” Review

A versatile opaque metallic eye shadow that doubles as an eyeliner or sparkly highlighter, in a shimmery, dusky pink with loads of irresistible sparkle!IMG_0397

This shadow has a “whipped gel” texture that applies very smoothly without making skin look crepey.

I wore this over Urban Decay Primer Potion, and it stayed all day long with no fading, or glitter fallout! Another great thing is that it is very inexpensive, and looks sophisticated, not cheap!  Very impressive for a  shadow! I really hope that E.L.F. expands this range of shadows, because the formula is just awesome! 0.11 oz.

Pop Beauty Double Duty Kabuki Brush

I got this at Ulta for 50% off recently. They may have some left at a store near you or online.

A very impressive kabuki brush! This is now my favorite kabuki ever!  It has these luxuriously soft bristles that feel so nice on the face with no scratchiness or dragging. If there is any streakiness to your bronzer or blush, it will buff that out easily. I also use this to brush away dark shadow fallout, and I plan to use this in the summer to blend bronzer on my neck and chest since it’s fairly large.

I love that the metal case and handle feels very sturdy and solid. The brush is retractable, and the bristles are very securely attached, so I don’t anticipate any bristles coming unglued after washing it, or  having to pick loose bristles off my face.
